So let's not pretend That you've seen the end No one knows those breaks and bends And let’s not pretend That we all depend On the words that you expend All those words you wrote into my head Still, I’ll only follow Only borrow Never swallow For all my days I’ll only follow Only borrow Feed tomorrow For all my days So let's not hand down All those screams and shouts Only whispers are allowed And let's not just leave Far beyond the sea There's so much behind those - Words I thought I’d never even read Still, I’ll only follow Only borrow Never swallow For all my days I’ll only follow Only borrow Feed tomorrow For all my days Honestly I don’t know your name I don’t know your face I don’t want to Honestly I don’t know your name I don’t know So let's not pretend That you've seen the end No one knows those breaks and bends All those words you wrote into my head Still, I’ll only follow Only borrow Never swallow For all my days I’ll only follow Only borrow Feed tomorrow For all my days

Waiting for the sun to arise It won’t stay, it won’t stay But I’ll keep my eye on the horizon For the change, for the change ‘Cos it takes the kind of man who forgets about today Yeah it takes the kind of man who remembers why he stays But I’ll wait For you Like I always do For you Oh won’t you let me sing Tonight will I ever begin Oh for all my sins I never left your side But I’ll wait For you Oh let the city sleep I don’t mind, I don’t mind As I walk down disfigured streets I’m alive, I’m alive But I’ll wait For you Like I always do For you Oh won’t you let me sing Tonight will I ever begin Oh for all my sins I never left your side Oh I feel you under my skin Tonight, and it’s wearing me thin Oh for all my sins I never left your side Still I’ll wait For you And I always will For you Oh won’t you let me sing Tonight will I ever begin Oh for all my sins I never left your side Oh I feel you under my skin Tonight, and it’s wearing me thin Oh for all my sins I never left your side

Erase all my erasers Chase after all my chasers now I’ll wait to Call back all of my callers Revolve round my revolver now They’re waiting now ‘Cos lately I’ve been up in the trees To get the gravity, off from my feet And lately I’ve been drinking the sea To wash away the weeks 'Cos when your hosts come down And your ghosts crawl out Then your words will speak out loud Rest my case when it’s jaded Wash my face when it’s facing out Don’t fail to Preside my individual Subside all my habitual sounds I hear them now ‘Cos lately I’ve been out in the fields To let the levity, out of my reach And lately I’ve been up in the trees 'Cos when your hosts come down And your ghosts crawl out Then your words will speak out loud ‘Cos lately I’ve been up in the trees To get the gravity, off from my feet And lately I’ve been drinking the sea To wash away the weeks 'Cos when your hosts come down And your ghosts crawl out Then your words will speak out loud

Chinese burns Were whispers first Gotta laugh about it Lessons learned From books that were burned Gotta laugh about it Steal my verse Steal my verse Dead man walks And talks the talk Gotta laugh about it All these thoughts Are cheese and chalk Gotta laugh about it Heal my talks Heal my talks Wait, I will fly Cos I will fight the ones who give me war Taste, all my time I’ll invite the ones who give me war All these scars From fallen stars Still laugh about it Jaded claws Scrape at the doors We’ll still laugh about it Feel my flaws Feel my flaws Wait, I will fly Cos I will fight the ones who give me war Taste, all my time I’ll invite the ones who give me war Feel my flaws Feel my flaws Wait, I will fly Cos I will fight the ones who give me war Taste, all my time I’ll invite the ones who give me war

Yeah you, you’re like a Russian doll in Rome There’s no need to call it home When you’re saddled with your own ‘Cos we’re, hanging off the words you say Falling down in strict array ‘Til they all just wash away But I’ll still spin in the ground with you I’ll spit at the howling moon Still sit in the fire with you Yeah I’ll still spin in the ground with you Still omit the grand review Some days, you’ll see ships that pass at night Put your blindfold on in light Crossing over black and white When you, when you've swallowed up the sun And your west has been re-won Will you be the one to run But I’ll still spin in the ground with you I’ll spit at the howling moon Still sit in the fire with you Yeah I’ll still spin in the ground with you Still omit the grand review Just want you for myself Take you in for myself Keep you all to myself But I’ll still spin in the ground with you I’ll spit at the howling moon Still sit in the fire with you Yeah I’ll still spin in the ground with you Still omit the grand review

Biography

Bournemouth based singer-songwriter Philip John, has been playing the live circuit as a solo act for a few short years. Armed with his dynamic rock voice and etherial guitar sound, expect to hear influences ranging from Jeff Buckley to Nick Drake; Soundgarden to The Police, channelled through his own soundscape of sincerity and power.

His last EP, “Sung for Ghosts” attempted to capture his live sound in its most raw and charismatic form. Recording with just two microphones in a room, it’s one voice, one acoustic guitar, played completely live in single takes. He’s currently writing his follow up effort, working with other musicians to produce a bigger, more full band sound.

He’s a lifelong musician, and has gigged all around the country, and recorded in some top studios with countless artists, bands, and producers over the years, predominantly playing the backbone role of the bass guitarist in these endeavours. During this time he quietly worked on his own music on the side, giving him material so that now he could step out into the singer-songwriter role, pursuing his own creative vision.

His very first solo show was in support of legendary Inme frontman, Dave McPherson, who spoke of Philip afterwards; “(Philip’s) voice is gold and should definitely play more acoustic shows”. Since then he has been regularly playing live around the UK’s South, playing clubs, radio shows, and festivals alike, working towards gaining a steady following.

Reviews have said:

“Philip is a natural-born performer from the moment he stepped onto the stage. (He has) an impressive vocal range and a very husky campfire voice. (He) gave a stellar performance” - Expllora.

“Philip’s skilful guitar work and passionately delivered tunes really hit the mark” - Rock Regeneration.
